Theme-Based Low-Carb Links: Gary Taubes

The most influential person on our culture over the past five years regarding the positive and healthy benefits of livin' la vida low-carb has got to be New York Times science journalist Gary Taubes. Ever since he wrote the column "What If It's All Been A Big Fat Lie?" in 2002, Taubes has garnered worldwide attention for his meticulous research into the studies on carbohydrate restriction and exposed the fallacy of the low-fat movement.
In September 2007, he released his long-awaited book about this subject entitled Good Calories, Bad Calories which has given him a platform yet again for sharing what he has learned about diet delusions, nutritional myths, and fitness follies. It is arguably one of the most important health-related books to come out since the days of the late great Dr. Robert C. Atkins.

Jimmy,
Not sure if you know this but Anthony Colpo has ripped into Gary Taubes, Mike Eades, and many others who promote the advantage of low carb diets over simply cutting calories.
IMHO, you have given this nasty guy far too much lime light. If you're interested in reading Colpo's childish rant, let me know and I'll email it to you.

Fred Hahn
Fred, I suggest you read this blog post update where I talked about how Colpo criticized Taubes. You'll also notice I'm going to be addressing Colpo's behavior very soon at my blog.
Gary Taubes gave an excellent lecture on November 27, 2007 at the University of California Berkeley.

Judging by the last comment by the author, it seems unlikely she did much more than briefly skim through the book.
